Animal facilities
This technical platform has been operational since 1994. Animal facilities allow manipulation of environmental variables and regular and repeated measurements on live animals to study physiological mechanisms accurately. The technical platform is used for individual-level research in the field of ecophysiology and evolutionary and behavioural ecology. Research topics include the role of maternal effects in ecological responses to climate change, ecophysiology of host-parasite interactions (immunity, stress), as well as the genetics and plasticity of life history traits or colour polymorphisms. The biological models currently maintained on site are lizards of French fauna, birds and fishes. Animal facilities also meet the needs of other technical platforms by allowing the conditioning and controlled breeding of several animal species. The construction of the animal housing facilities was financed by ENS, the Ministry of Research, ANR, CNRS and the Ile-de-France Region.
This platform belongs to the national infrastructure [https://www.anaee-france.fr/en/infrastructure-services/semi-controlled-environment/planaqua/animal-facilities].
